Prop 8

We had the privilage to really stand up for what we believe in. We were very involved with Proposition 8 campaign here in CA. We didn't really have the money to donate so I tried to make sure we put as much time as we could into helping get this Propositon passed. The more we were involved the more passionate we got about it. I love that we were able to show the Lord that we will do all it takes to stand up for what is right. I feel really strong the Lord is sifting the wheat from the tares. It breaks my heart to see so many good strong church members opposing this matter. I don't understand how you could have a testimony of the gospel and then oppose something so critical to the plan of salvation. It has made me realize that I need to do a better job in my life at standing as a witness to Christ. The prophets have stated that the Saints will be praying for the coming of Christ because the world will be so wicked. I think that time is so near.
Here we are standing on the street corner in rush hour traffic waving signs for 2 1/2 hours. A few of our very dedicated Ward members came too. Russ was working so I dragged along Alexis and Leland. It was about 45 degrees out and poring rain. Leland sat in the car for the first half but started crying so I put him in the stroller with a quilt, plastic bag and umbrella over him. He was a trooper. Alexis and her friend wanted to wave signs too but only lasted about 5 min. before they were too cold and went back to the car. It was one of the most exhilarating experiences I have ever participated in and well worth the colds we all contracted in the few days to follow.

You guys are troopers! I've been thinking about this same subject quite a bit lately and found a couple of interesting talks by Neal A. Maxwell. I thought you might enjoy them, too. Here are the links:
