Apple Hill

It seems a little weird to take a touristy day trip to a place we used to live. Apple Hill is so beautiful. We climbed out of the car and took in a deep breath of the crisp pine scented air. We miss those things of living in the mountains. First we went to High Hill Ranch. Alexis ran from booth to booth checking out all the fun crafts. It didn't last too long and soon she was telling us she was bored . . . then she saw the pond. She remembered feeding the ducks last year and wanted to again. We went and bought some Kettle Korn and headed for the pond. The ducks must have all flown south already because there was only 2 and they were both sleeping. She tried throwing popcorn at them but they didn't budge. Next she tried to feed the fish. The water was so clear you could see the fish all the way across the pond. We were hoping to find a great new way of catching fish but no such luck. They didn't seem to like popcorn.

Soon the ducks woke up and started following Alexis around the pond begging for more. Leland even seemed to enjoy watching them.

Russ was a sucker and caved in to the big eyes and sweet pleading voice for a pony ride. I always thought they were so expensive but I feel we got our moneys worth. She rode for a long time and loved it so much. There isn't quite anything like doing something that makes your child feel so on top of the world. It's so easy to spoil them.

Then we headed over to Ables Acres. They had some fun stuff for the kids to play, well, more like some fun stuff to take your picture with. We came to the conclusion by the end of the trip that there isn't much to do at Apple Hill except take a ton of pictures with your kids and buy junk food. We can't go without the apple doughnuts! Yum.

When it was time to go we tried to get Alexis out of the pumpkin patch she had climbed deep into. She said she was stuck so I climbed in to help her. I noticed her foot was all covered in pumpkin guts. I looked around and soon found the culprit. Poor pumpkin.

That's funny I read your post to see what you guys did at Apple Hill. I was hoping for some insider info. We go to the same places you do. Yeah there really isn't much there but we like to go when we can. I love the orange pumpkin background.I love this time of year! Your kids are so photogenic. Leland looks all grown up and cute.

Beautiful pictures Darci! We're hoping to get over there before the weather turns too cold. We've lived here almost 5 years and have still never been!
It looks like your family had a great day there. :)
